Sharing our Heritage
|
|
Members and guests brought a favourite treasure or family heirloom and told the story behind their item. Penny Jones, owner of Magpie Antiques commented on each presentation. Items brought included a "Baseball signed by Babe Ruth', a "Wooden Chair" brought to Canada in the 1700's by a member of the presenters family, an "Invitation to a Banquet at Guildhall in 1914" at which King George V and Queen Mary would be in attendance. This invitation was for one of our member's relatives and also included the menu that would be served at the banquet. There was a small "Brass Doll Bed" that had been brought to Canada from England in 1920 by one member's mother, various pieces of Depression Glass and Royal Dalton china and many more items. Every item had an interesting story behind it.
